1 - Turn off the power

Without a doubt the most important step. Turn off the power: Before you start, make sure you turn off the power to the circuit you will be working on. You can do this by flipping the switch on the circuit breaker or fuse box.

2 - Remove the old light & Install the new one

Remove the old light: If you are replacing an existing light, remove it by removing the screws or clips that hold it in place.

Follow the manufacturer's instructions to install the new light. This will typically involve attaching the mounting plate to the ceiling or wall, connecting the wires, and attaching the light itself to the mounting plate.

3 - Connect the wires

Most lights will have three wires: a black or red "hot" wire, a white "neutral" wire, and a green or bare "ground" wire. Connect the hot wire to the black or red wire on the light, the neutral wire to the white wire on the light, and the ground wire to the green or bare wire on the light.

4 - Secure the light

Once the wires are connected, secure the light to the mounting plate using the screws or clips provided.

5 - Test the light & Finish up

Turn the power back on and test the light to make sure it is working properly.

If everything is working correctly, you can close up the light and restore power to the rest of the circuit.
